The GardenWorks Project launched its 2nd Annual Hot Pepper Challenge on May 19 in West Chicago. The Hot Pepper Challenge will run through September 30, 2018 and brings attention to food insecurity in DuPage.
“Not having enough food to feed your families is a problem for many DuPage families, and it’s uncomfortable,” said Amy Hebert, who volunteers on The GardenWorks Project’s board of directors. “With the Hot Pepper Challenge, we can feel a fraction of the discomfort that these families feel in an effort to raise awareness and fundraise so that GardenWorks can continue to provide hungry families with the supplies needed to grow food at home.”
At Blooming Fest, The GardenWorks Project will have a booth in the vendor area where participants can take a bite of a variety of hot peppers and learn more about the organization. Also at Blooming Fest, shoppers will enjoy the selection of vegetable, annual, and perennial plants, garden accessories, yard art, jewelry, clothing, beauty products and more. Food, live entertainment, local art, and children’s activities make it an event not to be missed.
