The GardenWorks Project is thrilled to welcome Morgan Abate to our team as the Marketing and Operations Associate. A passionate food justice and public health advocate, Morgan started volunteering with GardenWorks last year as a garden coordinator and launched the GardenWorks Food Readers’ Club in Fall 2019. We are excited to have her nonprofit and marketing expertise to help build awareness of The GardenWorks Project’s mission and programs.
Morgan discovered The GardenWorks Project through her work as a grant writer for People’s Resource Center, a multi-service human services agency that partners with GardenWorks. She started volunteering in 2019 to learn more about innovative ways to improve food access for hard-to-reach populations. She has been hooked ever since.
As a cross-cultural communicator and fundraiser for hunger relief organizations across the Chicago area, Morgan has deep experience educating groups on the critical connections between health, hunger and poverty. The tools, strategies and tactics she’s used will help the GardenWorks Project reach more communities, call more volunteers to action and engage sponsors. Additionally, her bilingual skills will help GardenWorks share our mission with the Hispanic community.
Since getting involved with The GardenWorks Project, Morgan has become a more confident gardener and stronger advocate for growing your own food and supporting small, local farms. She’s looking forward to inspiring others to get involved with GardenWorks in the same way that she was.
