The GardenWorks Project is honored to have been selected as one of seven organizations to participate in the Robert R McCormick Museum Community Tree Program. The McCormick Foundation is granting us $2500 in support of our mission, and we have the chance to win $2500 more! Here's how:
In the next couple of weeks, our volunteers will be decorating a Christmas tree within the Museum. Our tree will be located in the dining room of the McCormick mansion, located in Cantigny Park (1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton, IL). Because of our organization's focus on improving the meals of families facing hunger by giving them the resources to grow food at home, it's fitting that the Museum is placing our tree in the dining room.
The theme for the decor of our tree is "Seeds of Hope," and our volunteer decorators are drawing inspiration from vintage seed packets, galvanized watering cans, and burlap. We can't wait to share the finished tree with you.
We invite you to visit Cantigny Park and the McCormick Museum for their Celebrate the Season Holiday Festival on December 5, 2015 from 4-7pm, when you and your family can enjoy sleigh rides, live reindeer, stories with Mrs. Claus, and the Mistletoe Market. From 5-8pm, the Museum will host a special open house where you can tour the mansion and view all of the Community Trees and vote for your favorite. If The GardenWorks Project gets the most votes, we will win an additional $2500 to support more home gardens for more hungry families in our community.
If you can't make the Celebrate the Season Holiday Festival on December 5, you can still visit the museum to tour all of the trees and vote for The GardenWorks Project from November 25 - December 30 (the park and museum are closed 11/26, 11/27, 12/24 and 12/25).
We hope you and your family will join us in the fun and festivities at Cantigny Park and the Robert R. McCormick Museum this holiday season. For more information on events at Cantigny, visit their events calendar.
