Local butterfly expert Victoria Burris will explain why butterfly populations are in decline, and how we can support them by planting butterfly gardens in our yards. She will discuss the benefits of native plants, the basic elements of butterfly gardens, how butterflies provide us with bigger vegetable garden yields, and how we can help our majestic Monarch butterfly. The class is free, but please RSVP.
Come for this free class, and stay for West Chicago's Blooming Fest! The GardenWorks Project will sell vegetable seedlings for $3 each ($1.50 for Food Growers Network members) and will have gardening tools available for borrowing. Blooming Fest celebrates all things gardening, with plant sales, vendors, entertainment, family activities and food.
