everyone deserves fresh produce
Summer Intern 2020
My name is Amy Martin and I am a senior at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois. I am a dietetics major with a minor in Spanish. I was drawn to The GardenWorks Project because of their mission to aid those who struggle with food insecurity. During the school year, I like to volunteer at community gardens, food banks, and soup kitchens in the Peoria area. Through these experiences, I have realized that food insecurity is a major issue that many people face. After completing this volunteer work and learning about food insecurity in several classes, I discovered that I am passionate about this topic. While working with The GardenWorks Project, I hope to use my nutrition knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others. In my position, I will strive to bring together gardening and nutrition education to improve the wellness of food insecure individuals.
