Why give on #GivingTuesday? GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
#GivingTuesday is an international movement that continues to build with momentum and energy. In 2018 alone, the U.S. contributed over $400 million in gestures of generosity and support to organizations, with the hope of creating a culture of generosity. The GardenWorks Project is founded upon the same principles of generosity. The organization began to educate neighbors about the hidden realities of food insecurity, and our approach is very much the same today. We still have 100's of opportunities to volunteer throughout the year.
This year, we hope to raise $2000 by the end of the year, kicking off on (Giving)Tuesday, December 3rd. For those compelled to give, please donate sometime before the end of the year on our website!
For those that are not able to contribute financially, consider fundraising for us! Start a peer-to-peer campaign on social media, and set a fundraising goal for yourself and for your community. To start a Facebook fundraiser, follow this link to set up a #GivingTuesday fundraiser, and spread the word to your network about the good work we are doing! Our courageous clients look to you for support, and we are so grateful for our network that accomplishes so much for us every year. Happy holidays and hope to see you in the garden this spring!
